Which Bangkok to Koh Kood route should you book?
Choose a combined bus-and-ferry journey if you want one planned connection from Bangkok to Koh Kood. Boonsiri publishes this route and a Phra Sumen Road service point near Khao San Road. Choose a private road transfer to Laem Sok if door-to-door pickup matters more than a shared departure. Flying to Trat removes the long Bangkok road leg, but does not remove the transfer to Laem Sok, ferry check-in or the crossing.
Treat the trip as a transfer day. A one-hour ferry is only the sea leg; it is not the journey time from your Bangkok hotel. If you are arriving on an international flight, a Bangkok overnight is the less brittle choice than building an unprotected same-day connection to the last boat.

| Your decision | How it works | Best fit and main constraint |
|---|---|---|
| Combined bus and ferry | Bangkok meeting point → mainland ferry connection → Koh Kood; choose the hotel-transfer endpoint if offered. | The simplest shared journey. One reservation is not proof of compensation or guaranteed onward travel if there is disruption. |
| Private road transfer plus ferry | Your Bangkok pickup → the operator’s Laem Sok check-in office → ferry → island transfer. | Useful for a group or luggage-heavy trip. The car booking must target the check-in office and fit the ferry deadline. |
| Flight to Trat plus ferry | Suvarnabhumi → Trat Airport → road transfer to Laem Sok → ferry → hotel. | Useful if the flight and boat fit together. Airport arrival time is not ferry check-in time. |
| Independent bus to Trat | Bangkok → Trat bus terminal → separate road transfer to Laem Sok → ferry. | Useful if you want a Trat stop. More separate connections; an evening arrival should be planned with a mainland overnight. |
Bangkok → Laem Sok → Ao Salad → your hotel

Reach the correct Bangkok meeting point
Boonsiri lists its Bangkok service point at 214–216 Phra Sumen Road, Talat Yot, Phra Nakhon, near Khao San Road. Its booking form also lists other Bangkok pickup categories. Select a specific origin and use that ticket’s meeting point; “Bangkok” alone is not a pickup address.
- 2
Travel to the Laem Sok check-in office
For an independent road or airport transfer, give the driver the ferry operator’s office location. Boonsiri lists its office at 198 Moo 6, Ao Yai, Mueang Trat. Its check-in office and boarding pier are separate parts of the journey, with staff coordinating the pier shuttle.
- 3
Check in and cross to Koh Kood
Boonsiri’s October 2026 pier guide advises arrival about 45–60 minutes before departure unless the confirmation specifies otherwise. Account for this before choosing the Bangkok departure or Trat flight; reaching the area at the printed sailing time is too late.
- 4
Continue from Ao Salad to your accommodation
Boonsiri says its Laem Sok ferries generally arrive at Ao Salad in northern Koh Kood. Choose a hotel-transfer destination or arrange the onward pickup. Tell the operator the actual property name rather than just “Koh Kood”.
Do not confuse Laem Sok with the Koh Chang ferry piers
Laem Sok is the mainland departure to select for the Koh Kood ferry described here. Ao Thammachat is a mainland crossing for Koh Chang; Ao Sapparot is on Koh Chang. A bus advertised for the Koh Chang pier does not deliver you to the Koh Kood check-in office.
Trat Airport, Trat Bus Terminal and Trat town are also distinct from Laem Sok. When assembling separate tickets, write down the arrival endpoint of the first leg and the departure endpoint of the second. Add the road transfer between them instead of treating every “Trat” label as interchangeable.
Boonsiri: Laem Sok office, check-in and Koh Kood arrivalFerry cost and time: useful reference, not a live quote
Boonsiri’s pier guide dated 23 October 2026 lists a reference fare of 600 THB per adult one way for Laem Sok–Koh Kood, with scheduled resort transport subject to the booked service and transfer coverage. This is a ferry-service reference, not the price of a Bangkok through-ticket or a flight-and-ferry package.
Two internally consistent examples in that guide are 10:45–11:45 and 13:15–14:15, each a one-hour crossing. These are published reference times for the listed high-season period, 1 October 2026–31 May 2027, not confirmation of a sailing on your date. The same table gives a contradictory late-afternoon arrival; do not use that row to construct a tight connection.
For a total-cost comparison, include travel to the Bangkok meeting point, the bus or flight, any airport/terminal-to-Laem Sok transfer, the ferry and the island hotel transfer. Avoid paying twice for an island transfer already included in the selected ticket.
Boonsiri: dated ferry fare, timetable and transfer conditionsWhen a Trat overnight is the better plan
Choose a mainland overnight when the available road journey or flight cannot reach the ferry office before check-in, or when the connection depends on every separate leg running on time. Book the next day’s ferry first and place your accommodation and morning transfer around it. Do not assume an extra boat will appear after the last service shown for your date.
A combined reservation reduces the number of connections you arrange yourself, but the route page does not establish a blanket missed-connection or refund guarantee. Read the selected fare conditions before treating it as protected travel. For a short island stay, keeping the first evening free is more useful than booking an activity against the estimated arrival.
